So Cube World is finally out. It’s in it’s alpha version and is available for purchase from the Picroma website that Wollay and his wife Pixxie run. If the site is down for you – try again a little bit later. Wollay likened the traffic to a DDOS attack which brought the site down to it’s knees within the first few hours. Registrations were closed shortly to help alleviate some of the strain and were reopened again shortly afterwards. It’s been up and down for me since then, so just be patient.
I haven’t tried playing it on anything but my main PC which runs the game perfectly fine maxed out (AMD 965 black edition, 8 gigs of RAM, and an AMD 6970). I’ll give it a shot on a few other computers around the house to gauge performance on lower end machines and laptops. I’m running a server and have been able to play it fine with a friend, but the server is currently limited to 4 people simultaneously although that’s surely bound to be increased later on.
For more information about the game check out CubeWorldForum.org, this nifty “getting started guide“, and the CubeWorld subreddit.
