Sims 4 Has Mod Support

The Sims 4

Some new news on the famous people-sim is that it will have built-in mod support right out of the box. I’m sure they will continue to sell new mesh-based models and items through an in-game store, but the ability to mod and tweak the game comes with the game – something very few games can say in the current day of micro-transactions and in-game purchases.

The people over at Simsvip.com have the scoop:

Everything the community makes is astounding to us, super inspiring, and it is interesting to see what people come up with. Please continue doing it as we want to be able to encourage and foster that creativity because it’s so important to what The Sims means to everyone.

We cannot officially support and screen everything that comes out, so it is very important to us that we set up a good foundation that can help the community manage what they’re creating, and communicate to other people how to responsibly get involved in the modding and creating community.

• Directory for Mods in the user data folder.

• Custom Content Technology Document with data formats that will help creators avoid conflict with what has been done in the game.  This document will be expanded on as we go along.

• Dedicated Modding Section section on The Sims 4 Official Forums for feedback, discussion, and issues.

• Game options panel contains section for mods. (Script and Non-Script)

Origin Adds Ability to Stream to Twitch.tv

Origin Streaming Twitch

In a bizarre turn of events we see EA’s Origin offering up something that Steam hasn’t yet discussed or made possible. In the next Origin update you’ll be able to launch your Origin games (and also add non-Origin games) and stream them directly to Twitch.tv, the popular video game streaming service. Normally this would require a third party program to be running, set up to capture certain parts of the screen, and then configure the sound and video settings, and finally troubleshoot different issues you may have. With Origin you simply press Shift+F1, click the “Twitch Video Broadcast” button, log in and give your stream a name and adjust the audio levels depending on whether or not you want to use a mic or not, and click Start. There are settings where you can go in and adjust different settings such as the video resolution (no word on max resolution, normally third party programs will limit you in some way with the audio being mono or a low quality or the video being restricted to a lower resolution until you purchase the full program or pay a monthly subscription fee).

See that screenshot up there? Did we mention that EA is giving away Battlefield 1942 for FREE on Origin? That’s right, you should pick it up and install one of the dozens of mods that make the game unique and more fun than ever before.

BF3 Gets Updated

Battlefield 3 Update

We’ve got the whole list of changes in our Forums because Battlelog is down and people may not be able to get to the patch notes right now.

It does add some functionality like the ability to share your Profile and Stats pages to Facebook, Google+, and Twitter. Also PC users will love the auto-Origin-login feature. If you’re not logged in to Origin and join a game server, Battlelog will automatically sign you in to Origin in the background and join the game server.

Unfortunately people will still be left out of some fun in the big 64 player maps. “Please note that the Squad Privacy option still allows 2 man Squads which, during 64 player sessions, can lead to players with no squad position –- the number of people with no Squads will be shown at the bottom of the Squad selection list.” In my opinion, 64 player should have at least 12 squads or possibly be 6 player squads instead of 4. I don’t care if 32 player stays at 4 per squad, but the squads need reworking on 64 sessions and this didn’t fix it.
