Mass Effect 3 has been critical and commercial success for Bioware – despite some of the issues a portion of the gaming industry disagrees with (zero-day DLC). Now there’s another much smaller portion of people who don’t agree with the game’s ending. I know, there’s always a whiny subset of the population in any video game… most of the time these are the vocal minority in games like Minecraft but sometimes make up a huge portion of the population in MMOs like Star Wars Galaxies that had the game changed to cater to their wants and needs and ultimately killed it.
The people upset with the ending of ME3 (no spoilers, I promise) have taken their whining to the next level though recently by filing a formal complaint with the FTC on the basis of false advertising. The original forum post contained this:
This is not somethign [sic] I was happy to do, but after the terrible ending that was in no way the product that had been advertised to me and the lack of any kind of response from Bioware/EA to address this, I felt it was one of my only recourses. I’ll be returning my copy of the game before the end of my 30 day return policy if the ending still hasn’t been addressed by then.
It seems though that not everyone agrees with this sentiment with some comparing it to suing a publisher because they didn’t like the ending of a book. One Redditor even said “OK, I was siding with the fans so far, they can complain as much as it pleases them, but this is getting a bit ridiculous. ” and I have to agree… they’ve gone full retard.
