Steam Holiday Sale Begins

Steam Holiday

Steam has started up their Holiday sale for the 2011 holidays. If you’re not familiar with this sale, it’s where you buy a freakin ton of games and then play them all through the rest of the year… because they’re dirt cheap. You’ll see games for $2, games that are 75% off or better, and more.

Grab your credit card and stock up while the gettin’s good! Deal will be rotating daily so keep an eye out for games you really want. Today there’s games like Fable III for $12, Portal 1 & 2 for $8, Rift for $7, and loads more.

Terraria Holiday Update Live

Terraria Holiday Update

The Holiday Update (v1.1.1) has gone live and there’s a few things to note about it. The first thing I wondered before we knew was whether or not winter/snow biomes will be a holiday thing only or if it will persist into future world generations. Turns out it will be in every world generated during the holiday season and has a 1 in 3 chance of being generated in the map outside of the season.

Here’s a list of some of the changes:

Items
● Added Candy Cane Blocks & Walls.
● Added Green Candy Cane Blocks & Walls.
● Added Snow Blocks.
● Added Snow Bricks & Walls.
● Added Red, Green, and Blue Lights.
● Added Presents that are dropped by monsters during the holiday season.
● Added Snow Globe.
● Added Santa’s Outfit.

NPC’s
● Added Snowman Gangsta.
● Added Mister Stabby.
● Added Snow Balla.
● Added Santa Claus.

World
● Snow biomes will always be created during world gen during the holiday season. There is a 1 in 3 chance for snow biomes to be created during world gen during the rest of the year.

There’s also a pretty good amount of performance additions and bug fixes as well including reducing the amount of RAM needed for Terraria and the ability to turn off the backgrounds (which I’m a huge fan of). Items dropped by hardcore and mediumcore players will now retain their enchantments, hair shows underneath hats, and they have improved the automatic game quality adjuster. Check it all out in their 1.1.1 Update post on the Terraria Forums.

Just launch Terraria normally and it should update itself.

Wowhead for SWTOR: Torhead

Torhead

If you relied heavily on Wowhead when you played WoW and are ready for SWTOR to be released then you might want to go ahead and bookmark a site called Torhead. It’s the same layout and the same feel by the same people that brought you Wowhead. We might see one or two crop up and go like Thottbot and Allakhazam, but if they pull off Torhead like they did with Wowhead we should expect them to stay around a bit. Preorder players are already levelling up and enjoying the game so head over to the SWTOR section of our forums and see what they’ve got to say about it so far!
