Re: Jay Wilson Discussing Inferno Difficulty
So, to paraphrase...
Their hardcore testers tested Inferno until they felt it was sufficiently challenging and then they doubled the difficulty. Alrighty then. Don't think I'll be doing a Hardcore toon anytime soon.

Re: Jay Wilson Discussing Inferno Difficulty
so i got my barb to 60 and i'm now in act 1 inferno.
so far, i thought normal and nightmare were pretty easy. hell became a challenge. and it was mostly because i was under geared; horribly. i was still wearing some lvl 25-35ish items at lvl 55+. this game is definitely all about the gear (just like D2), but the frequency of upgrades are few and far between. i got a lot of my upgrades as hand-me-downs from Nunes and CoolHandLuke (thanks guys!!). once i got a good weapon and some upgraded armor i made it through hell with little issue.
the reality is that you'll have to play the auction house to keep progressing at a decent pace once you reach hell and working through inferno. you'll have to let go of your pack-rat ways and sell those items on the AH so you can buy good upgrades for your current toon.
inferno will indeed be hard; very hard. it will take a lot of time and farming to progress with little frustration of dying at every elite/champion pack. (most "hardcore" characters are stuck on act 1 farming before they dare to venture into act 2; because act 2 is tough in general, let alone in inferno!)
oh yea, an interesting stat from blizz reference inferno mode:

1.9% of characters have unlocked Inferno difficulty

Re: Jay Wilson Discussing Inferno Difficulty
Speaking of which, I actually died for the first time in quite awhile last night. I was going against Belial on Hell and for some reason I just could not avoid the green explosions. Took me 3 tries and I redid my build to absorb more damage...at which point I earned the achievement for not getting hit by the green explosions so absorbing more damage was completely pointless.
My demon hunter is up to 58, but I'm still in Act II of Hell so it'll probably be this weekend before I start Inferno. I've got some buddies at work that are in Act II Inferno right now and telling me the horror stories of how the little creatures that do approximately zero damage in normal through hell are 2 or 3 shotting them now.
