Diaspora: Shattered Armistice

Diaspora is an episodic-release single and multiplayer space fighter combat game set in the reimagined Battlestar Galactica universe. For those of you who are fans of both Battlestar Galactica and space-flight sims, this will be right up your alley. Since it’s built on the FreeSpace Open Engine, it’ll run on Windows, Mac, and Linux. There are installation guides as well as some screenshots and known issues/bugs on the release thread over at hard-light.net. If you’re interested, go ahead and download it because if it goes the way of other BSG simulators like Nexus BSG then it’ll probably be receiving a Cease & Desist. Go grab it!

DOTA2 International Championships

2012 Dota2 International Championships

This past weekend was the Dota2 International Championships. Dozens of teams from around the world competed in Seattle, WA for a chance at a million dollars. LGD, Evil Geniuses and others were expected to play very well over the course of the weekend.

After several impressive matches and a 4 to 1 victory in the Grand Final, Invictus Gaming took the first place prize of $1,000,000 and NaVi, who was the crowd favorite, took second place an a hefty $250,000 home with them. You can watch the Grand Final matches here and you can watch other matches from the Winners Bracket and the Losers Bracket also. If you’re sitting there wondering what Dota2 is or shrugging it off because you don’t really know how the game is played and haven’t paid it any attention as a result, check out this Dota2 for Dummies guide on Reddit. If you plan on watching any Dota2 and want to get involved, go ahead and grab the Spectator Client on steam and start watching some matches.

Steam Greenlight Goes Live

Steam Greenlight Live

Steam’s crowd-sourcing platform Greenlight has gone live. Steam already has loads of games for you to vote for. I don’t know that the thresholds for how many votes are necessary have been made public yet but last night I saw a few games that already had 1% of the necessary votes and plenty that still had 0%. I saw loads of games that I felt were worthy games and even more that were pure garbage or weak iOS ports. I’m sure I’ll be featuring games from Greenlight from time to time to either spread awareness of some good games that deserve to be voted for and of course some games that deserve the thumbs down.

Check it out and start voting!
