Jeb has said that Minecraft 1.8 will not be released tomorrow as an official update but that he will update the “pre-release” version that he intentionally leaked over the weekend with some of the bugfixes he’s been working on. His previous date of Sept 13th was merely a “best guess” and not a firm date.
I haven’t done a quest-spotlight or anything yet but I figured this was a fun enough and easy enough quest to share with everyone. Took me about 5 minutes and I got myself a fun vanity pet out of it – a balloon!
There’s an Alliance Version and a Horde Version and while they give different balloons, the quests are quite similar. For the Alliance version, you’ll need to first visit Vin who is a young Draenai in Stormwind’s Cathedral district. Here’s a map of where she’s at. If you’re Horde you’ll need to pay a visit to Jaga who lives in the Valley of Wisdom in Orgrimmar. Here’s a map of where he’s at.
When you get the quest from them, you’ll be tasked to find 5 Windswept Balloons. Here’s the location of all the windswept balloons in Stormwind and here’s a map of the windswept balloons in Orgrimmar. I won’t tell you how the quest ends but have fun with your new Alliance Balloon or Horde Balloon!
In an event that Jeb might’ve planned all along, the 1.8 Adventure Update has been released a bit early on 4Chan.

IMPORTANT! JOB will NOT updating the server to run 1.8 until it is officially released on Tuesday. If you want to test it out and play around with it feel free to, but you will NOT be able to connect to the JOB server.
Note: if you try it and want to revert back to the 1.7 update, just delete your bin folder.
