Available today is the latest game in the Anno series, Anno 2070. There’s been a few games in the series starting with Anno 1602, Anno 1503, Anno 1701, and Anno 1404. It’s a city-building RTS game set in the year 2070 (duh). Global warming has melted the Arctic ice cap, which has raised the global sea level so high that what used to be mountains are all that remains of land. It easily has the most comprehensive economic management system seen yet in the Anno series. For the longest time, the Anno games have been the best of the best in their genre, and Anno 2070 looks promising enough to carry on that tradition.
The game has two factions: The Eden Initiative (referred to as the ‘Ecos’) and The Global Trust (referred to as the ‘Tycoons’). Ecos are environmental and build sustainable cities but are inefficient and slow to expand. Tycoons are industrious and expand quickly but have problems with pollution and dwindling resources.
It seems like a fun game especially if you’re into the RTS type games. It’s available on Steam today for $49.99.
