Apparently hackers have cracked Ubisoft’s uPlay and have gained access to the Ubisoft distribution system and can download games for free. It’s likely to be patched quickly but one game unfortunately (for Ubisoft) was downloaded that hasn’t even been released yet.
Ubisoft’s unannounced shooter Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is apparently lying on Ubisoft’s servers, available to download to those who have the exploit.
It’s already up on torrent sites for grabs and is sure to get someone fired at Ubisoft. Far Cry 3: Dragon Blood is rumored to be releasing on May 1st and transforms the jungle setting typically found in Far Cry to an 80′s sci-fi setting. Complete with some pretty sweet weapons to blow stuff up with, Dragon Blood is going to be a stand-alone open world game and won’t require Far Cry 3 to play it.
With a lot already known about the new PS4, people have been speculating as to what Microsoft has up their sleeve. Microsoft Analyst Paul Thurrot has shed some light on those speculations. The console will be revealed on May 21st at an upcoming Microsoft event. The console is expected to launch in November (just in time for parents to snatch one up for a Christmas present) and there will be two pricing options available. The first is a flat out purchase no strings attached $500 console. It’s suggested that there will also be a $300 subscription supported price most likely to Xbox Live. Another rumor flying around is that there will be a new Xbox 360 console out later this year that you’ll be able to grab for a measly $99. I’ve been wanting to switch from Gran Turismo to Forza but all I have is a PS3 and don’t have any real desire to buy all new hardware to try out a game. For $99 I might be persuaded to make the jump.
Any other console gamers itching to get the details on Microsoft’s next Xbox?
Since Redigit stopped working on Terraria and 505 Games started work on porting it over to the Xbox & PS3, everyone pretty much considered it a finished game. Some people were bitter about the end to updates, but you can’t blame Redigit for wanting to spend some time with his family and be finished with the game – not every game gets the perpetual updates for years on end like Minecraft has. Others were bitter that the Xbox and PS3 ports were going to have some items that the PC version did not, things like pets. Most of the complaints though I take with a grain of salt – I paid somewhere around $4 for the game and have well over 200 hours invested in it. I’ve also gifted the game numerous times when it went on sale.
Redigit has come out and announced a new PC update recently which has the PC community pretty excited. Included in that are at least 235 new items and some new biomes. He’s shown us a load of new screenshots (1, 2, 3, 4) and has said that this won’t be the final update to the game. He’s also stated that he’d like to make a sequel to the game once he’s finished updating it.
He’s going to have a direct competitor to his game this time around though with Starbound nearing release (still unannounced), but with most people already owning the game (seriously it goes on sale for like $2) I think it’ll be more about people who already own it excited to fire it up again. I believe his sequel will also do better if he’s got an active Terraria community that he can tease with it.
