WoW’s 10th Anniversary

WoW's 10th Anniversary

Blizzard is preparing to ramp up a few special events and items for World of Warcraft’s 10th anniversary. A decade! It’s scary to think about how long I’ve played this game, but it’s always refreshing to remember the times spent with friends and it’s refreshing to see how Blizzard keeps coming up with ways to keep people coming back and keep the game entertaining.

For their 10th anniversary they’ve got a few things planned. First up it’s the Tarren Mill vs Southshore battleground. It’s a team deathmatch battleground (first of it’s kind in WoW) and is supposedly going to be a 100 vs 100 match. That’s enourmous!!! Check out the battleground map here.

They’re also going to be bringing Molten Core back as a 40-man LFR raid. I imagine that’s going to bring back some old memories… a bunch of noobs running through MC having absolutely no clue what they’re supposed to be doing? Just like the good ole’ days! You’ll grab an achievement once you finish which will also net you a pretty sweet corehound mount.

And to boot – anyone who logs in during the anniversary event will net themselves a cute little molten-corgi pup pet like in the picture above.

Are you still playing? Will you be resubbing for Warlords of Draenor? Will you be resubbing before that just to take part in some of the fun anniversary events?

Sims 4 Has Mod Support

The Sims 4

Some new news on the famous people-sim is that it will have built-in mod support right out of the box. I’m sure they will continue to sell new mesh-based models and items through an in-game store, but the ability to mod and tweak the game comes with the game – something very few games can say in the current day of micro-transactions and in-game purchases.

The people over at Simsvip.com have the scoop:

Everything the community makes is astounding to us, super inspiring, and it is interesting to see what people come up with. Please continue doing it as we want to be able to encourage and foster that creativity because it’s so important to what The Sims means to everyone.

We cannot officially support and screen everything that comes out, so it is very important to us that we set up a good foundation that can help the community manage what they’re creating, and communicate to other people how to responsibly get involved in the modding and creating community.

• Directory for Mods in the user data folder.

• Custom Content Technology Document with data formats that will help creators avoid conflict with what has been done in the game.  This document will be expanded on as we go along.

• Dedicated Modding Section section on The Sims 4 Official Forums for feedback, discussion, and issues.

• Game options panel contains section for mods. (Script and Non-Script)

Youtube to buy Twitch

Youtube Buys Twitch

Google’s giant video website Youtube is set to buy Twitch in a reported $1 billion cash deal. Neither party has commented on the matter but Variety.com who has a very reputable reputation when it comes to deals like this broke the story on it yesterday. Variety states that YouTube is preparing for U.S. regulators to challenge the Twitch deal, according to sources. YouTube is far and away the No. 1 platform for Internet video, serving more than 6 billion hours of video per month to 1 billion users worldwide, and the company expects the Justice Department to take a hard look at whether buying Twitch raises anticompetitive issues in the online-video market.

Lots of gamers and streamers on Twitch are concerned about this given Youtube’s recent rash of controversy surrounding it’s takedowns and false flags for copyright infringement as recently as December last year.

Time will tell whether or not we’ll be seeing good things coming from Twitch’s new parent company providing some funding or if we’ll be staring at “This stream is not available in your country” screens.
