In an event that Jeb might’ve planned all along, the 1.8 Adventure Update has been released a bit early on 4Chan.

IMPORTANT! JOB will NOT updating the server to run 1.8 until it is officially released on Tuesday. If you want to test it out and play around with it feel free to, but you will NOT be able to connect to the JOB server.
Note: if you try it and want to revert back to the 1.7 update, just delete your bin folder.
Jeb tweeted a little earlier that the release date will likely be Sept 12th – this coming Monday. We’ll be starting a new world sometime Monday evening if that’s the case and will archive the world save and offer it for download under the JOB Server Saves section. Hopefully Bukkit won’t take long to update! In the meantime, check out all the changes that are coming our way with the first half of the Adventure Update!

Earlier today Mojang posted a video showcasing some of the things for 1.8 – the first half of the Adventure Update. If it doesn’t seem like there’s as much as you thought there would be, keep in mind that while 1.8 is actually adding a lot – the biggest thing it’s adding is groundwork for the 1.9 content and more before the release.
